39 Kanlaon-affected families still in evacuation centers

THIRTY-NINE families or 136 persons affected by the eruption of the Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island early this month remain in one evacuation center in the Western Visayas region, data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) showed.

The DSWD-Disaster Response Management Negros Occidental said 15,815 families or 50,977 persons from 23 barangays in Western and Central Visayas were affected by the June 3 eruption.

Forty-families (141 persons) were displaced, with 39 families still in evacuation centers and one family (five persons) staying with a relative.

The DSWD has distributed over P27.341 million worth of food packs and non-food relief items aid to the affected communities.

Kanlaon remains under Alert Level 2.
