DEATHS from the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) dipped to 60 yesterday while 3,666 new cases were reported by the Department of Health, the lowest number in the country in nearly a month.
The DOH said the previous lowest number of new cases was last May 23 when 3,083 new cases were reported.
But the agency clarified that the 3,666 new cases do not include figures from 12 laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last June 20.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the number of infections in the country rose to 1,367,894 while the death toll climbed to 23,809, just 191 short of the 24,000 mark, for a case fatality rate of 1.74.
Active cases plunged to 52,696 from 57,679 last Monday, with 91 percent mild cases, 4.2 percent asymptomatic cases, 2 percent severe cases, 1.4 percent critical cases, and 1.4 percent moderate cases.
The DOH also reported 6,810 new recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,291,389. This means that 94.4 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
