THE Bureau of Immigration yesterday deported 312 of the 512 Chinese arrested in a raid on an alleged illegal call center office in Pasay last month.

Immigration spokeswoman Dana Krizia Sandoval said the first batch of deportees left the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 3 a.m. while the remaining batch left last night. They were bound for Hebei province, Changchun in Jilin province and Shijiaxung.

Sandoval said the BI also turned over 21 minors to the custody of the Chinese Embassy.
The Chinese were arrested in a raid at the Millenium Building on NAIA Road last month by immigration personnel assisted by personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office and the Armed Forces.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the operation also led to the arrest of 23 Vietnamese, 25 Malaysians, 45 Burmese, three Indonesians and four Taiwanese. They were arrested for working without permit and for being undocumented aliens.

“The foreigners were involved in some sort of telecommunications fraud, similar to budol-budol. But their victims are mostly from mainland China,” BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said.
