De Leon’s successor in Davao is Col. Lorenzo Detran Jr., who is currently assigned with the MIMAROPA Regional Police Office.

Cascolan has effected four rounds of revamp since assuming office as new PNP chief on September 2, vice now retired Gen. Archie Gamboa. Cascolan is due to retire from the service on November 10.

Cascolan reminded regional directors and commanders that they will be held accountable for the actions of their units.

The designation of three police generals, including Anti-Kidnapping Group chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, who was supposed to assume command of the Central Visayas Regional Police Office, has been put on hold.

Also put on hold was the designation of Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, who Estomo was supposed to replace, and that of Brig. Gen. Joseph Ulysses Gohel, the  deputy director of the Cordillera Regional Police Office who was supposed to succeed Estomo as AKG chief.

In a press briefing on Monday, Cascolan said he put on hold the assignments of the three officials because “they have tasks that need to be finished in their stations.” He did not elaborate.
