THREE regional wage boards in the Philippines have yet to issue their wage orders for domestic workers, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

In a televised public briefing, Labor Undersecretary Benjo Benavidez disclosed that there are still three Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) expected to issue wage orders for domestic workers.

“A total of 13 out of the 16 regional wage boards have already issued wage orders for domestic workers,” said Benavidez.

Data shows that Central Luzon, Central Visayas, and Davao Region are the regions with no wage orders for domestic workers.

The last wage orders issued in the three regions all took effect way back in June 2022.

Benavidez noted that the 13 wage orders for domestic workers issued by RTWPBs were all done “motu proprio.”

“These wage orders were issued by regional wage boards without any petitions filed. They all did it motu proprio,” noted Benavidez.

These regions are National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, and Caraga.

Under the Kasambahay Law, RTPWBs are mandated to review, determine, and adjust the minimum wage rates of domestic workers periodically.
