PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar yesterday announced the arrest of three police applicants who presented fake RT-PCR test results during a recruitment process at the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

Eleazar said a fourth suspect eluded arrest and is now the subject of follow-up operations.

He said the four, whose identities were withheld, submitted fake swab test results as part of the requirements among police applicants.

He said one of the three arrested was later found to be positive for COVID-19 and was immediately placed in isolation pending the filing of charges. The two others were brought to the Prosecutors’ Office for the filing of appropriate charges.

They were also automatically disqualified from applying as police officers.

“This should serve as a warning to all police applicants who are planning to do something illegal in the recruitment process,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar said there were actually 66 applicants who submitted fake swab test results, but 62 of them were cleared after the recruiting officers found out they did not know they were submitting fake test results.
