ADD the names of recurve archers Riley Silos, Jason Emmanuel Feliciano and Pia Elizabeth Bidaure to the list of hopefuls aiming to make it to the Tokyo Olympic Games in July, according to World Archery Philippines Atty. Clint Aranas.
“Our archers took part in the first stage of the recent online World Indoor Series organized by World Archery and these three archers fared well and finished high in the rankings,” Aranas said, adding the results are contained in WAP’s yearend report.
Silos scored a two-round total of 588 (294-294) while Feliciano scored 586 (294-292) to place Nos. 15 and 22, respectively, overall out of 770 entries from 80 countries that saw action in the men’s 70-meter competition.
Bedaure scored 564 (280-264) to rank No. 39 while national teammate Phoebe Nicole Amistoso had 564 (278-268) to place No. 60 in the women’s 70-meter event out of 428 participants in the online competition meant to keep the archers in competitive form despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Based on the rankings of Silos, Feliciano and Bidaure, they would be among the top 64 in the men’s and women’s divisions who would qualify for the Tokyo Olympics were it to be held today,” Aranas said.
A total of 64 individual slots each in the men’s and women’s recurve competitions are at stake in Tokyo, with 43 in the men’s bracket and 44 in the women’s category having qualified through the world championships and continental tournaments.
