FIVE persons, three of them Koreans, died while two others were injured when their sports utility vehicle (SUV) smashed into a truck in Baliwag City, Bulacan yesterday.
The Bulacan provincial police office identified the fatalities as Koreans Miseon Kim, Park Misoon, and Jinoh Kim; and Filipinos Rosalinda Capinlac and Allen Bulandos, the driver of the ill-fated vehicle.
Injured were Geraldine Capinlac and Theresa Adio, who are confined at the Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos City, also in Bulacan.
Baliwag City police chief Lt. Col. Julius Alvaro said the incident occurred at around 2 p.m. along DRT Highway in Barangay Sabang, Baliwag City.
Alvaro said the victims were on their way to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City, from Nueva Ecija, to catch the Koreans’ flight back to Korea.
“The SUV was traveling fast and encroached on the lane of the (northbound) truck, leading to the head-on collision,” said Alvaro.
“The Fortuner vehicle had seven passengers. Five of them died and two are in the hospital,” added Alvaro.
