THREE people died and 10 others were injured in an accident involving a passenger bus, a Toyota sports utility vehicle (SUV), and a trailer truck in Quezon on Monday night.
Quezon police officials named the fatalities as Gener Pablo, his wife Chona Pablo, and Melandro Bocito, passengers of the ill-fated Toyota Fortuner vehicle and residents of Oas, Albay.
Initial investigation said the driver of the ALPS passenger bus, with plate number NGJ 4046, lost control while the bus was traversing Maharlika Highway in Barangay Balubad, Atimonan, Quezon at around 11 p.m. due to slippery road conditions caused by heavy rains.
Police said the bus, bound for Gumaca, Quezon, encroached on the opposite lane, hitting the oncoming SUV with plate number EAD 3336. The SUV then hit a parked trailer truck, with plate number RVL 383, owned by XVC Logistics Inc.
The passengers of the SUV were reportedly on the way to northern Luzon to attend a convention. The Pablos are reportedly pastors of a religious group.
