THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) will start accepting Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) of individuals looking to run for congressman of the third district of Negros Oriental during the special elections scheduled on December 9.
The COC filing period is set from November 6 to 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Provincial Capitol Area in Daro, Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental, as stated under Resolution No. 10945.
“The COC shall be filed in five legible copies with the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor (OPES) of the Province of Negros Oriental,” said the Comelec in a social media post.
The House of Representatives has earlier adopted a resolution asking the Comelec to hold a special election to fill the seat vacated by expelled Rep. Arnolfo Teves, who has been accused to be the mastermind in the March 4, 2023 assassination of Gov. Roel Degamo.
The election period, including the gun ban period, in relation to the special polls will begin on November 9 and will run until December 24.
The campaign period will also start on November 9 until December 7.
