NEARLY 2,000 individuals have been displaced in the Davao region due to the shearline that caused flooding and landslide incidents in the region since last Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said yesterday.
The NDRRMC said the calamity affected 552 families or 2,212 individuals in 14 barangays in the provinces of Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental and Davao Oriental.
Davao de Oro had the highest number of affected population at 401 families or 1,657 individuals.
Davao Oriental had 131 families or 455 individuals affected while Davao Occidental had 20 families or 100 individuals.
Of the total affected population, 466 families or 1,900 individuals were initially displaced although the number was already down to 466 families or 1,800 individuals.
The displaced residents, the NDRRMC said, are staying in seven evacuation centers.
The NDRRMC reported 11 areas were flooded and three incidents of rain-induced landslides.
Five roads and a bridge were not passable.
The NDRRMC said 27 local government units (LGUs) declared suspension of classes while 14 LGUs declared suspension of work.
It also said P339,625 worth of food assistance has been provided to those affected in Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental.
