The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) announced Friday the re-opening of cinemas, following the easing up of COVID-19 restrictions in several parts of the country, including Metro Manila.
MTRCB Executive Director II and spokesperson Jose Benjamin A. Benaldo said in a statement that the “various Cinemas/Movie theaters situated within and outside Metro Manila will finally re-open its doors to moviegoers on 10 November 2021, following the downtrend in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.”
After twenty months of closure, cinemas are among the establishments that have been given the go signal to operate at 50 percent capacity for indoor and 70 percent for outdoor in Metro Manila and nearby areas following the relaxed quarantine status.
“The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF MEID) approved of the recommendation to de-escalate the National Capital Region to Alert level 2 from Alert level 3, in its resolution dated 04 November 2021, taking effect today 05 November 2021 until 21 November 2021,” Benaldo also said.
Twenty-nine in Metro Manila and nineteen in the provinces were included in the list of cinemas that were allowed to operate starting November 10, Wednesday. They are:
For Metro Manila — Bonifacio High Street (Taguig), Century City Mall (Makati), Ayala Circuit (Makati), Cinerama (Manila), Ayala Cloverleaf (Quezon City), Eastwood Mall (Quezon City), Fairview Terraces (Quezon City), Festival Mall (Muntinlupa), Fishermall (Malabon and Quezon City), Gateway (Quezon City), Glorietta 4 (Makati), Greenhills (San Juan), Lucky Chinatown (Manila), Ayala Malls Manila Bay (Paranaque), Market! Market! (Taguig), Newport (Pasay), Powerplant (Makati), Santolan Town Plaza (San Juan), TriNoma (Quezon City), Uptown (Taguig), Venice (Taguig), Vista Cinemas (Taguig), Vista Cinemas (Las Piñas), Evia Lifestyle Theater (Las Piñas), Starmall EDSA, Starmall Taguig, Starmall Alabang and One Mall (Valenzuela).
Outside Metro Manila — Alturas (Bohol), Bohol Quality (Bohol), Festive Walk (Iloilo), Fora (Tagaytay), Island City (Bohol), Magic Star (Tarlac), Sta. Lucia (Rizal), Southwoods (Laguna), Vista Cinemas Daang Hari (Cavite), Vista Cinemas Naga, Vista Cinemas General Trias (Cavite), Vista Cinemas Tanza (Cavite), Vista Cinemas Dasma (Cavite), Vista Cinemas Nomo (Cavite), Vista Cinemas Malolos (Bulacan), Vista Cinemas Bataan, Vista Cinemas Pampanga, Vista Cinemas Sta. Rosa (Laguna), and Vista Cinemas Iloilo.
Benaldo reminded the public to observe the health protocol as well as follow the MTRCB film ratings guide.
“In the case of the resumption of Cinema operations, it shall be the IATF-MEID and the Local Government Units who shall determine implementing guidelines to uphold health and safety controls for the viewing public,” he added.
