TWENTY-ONE more individuals have been arrested for violating the election gun ban, which will continue to be enforced until the end of the election period on June 8.
This brought to 3,265, from 3,244 the previous day, the number of violators who have been apprehended since the start of the election gun ban on January 9, the start of the election period.
Data from the PNP national headquarters in Camp Crame showed the violators included 23 policemen and 22 soldiers.
Metro Manila topped five regions with the highest number of arrested violators with 1,167, followed by Calabarzon with 355, Central Visayas with 338, Central Luzon with 302 and Western Visayas with 194.
A total of 5,27 firearms, gun parts and gun replicas have been seized, along with 131 explosives and 1,051 bladed weapons.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano reminded the public, during President Duterte’s Talk to the People last week, that the enforcement of the election gun ban will be until June 8.
