THE PNP yesterday said all 207 donated vehicles that the Commission on Audit (COA) earlier reported to be unrecorded in PNP books have been accounted for.

In a statement, PNP public information office chief Brig. Gen. Roderick Alba quoted PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. as saying the vehicles flagged by COA “are duly accounted for.”

“In fact, he (Azurin) added, the corresponding documentation to support the proper recording of the donated vehicles received by the national headquarters from 2017 to 2021 has already been reported to COA as early as June 2022,” said Alba.

In a recent audit report, COA said the questioned vehicles were donated by foreign governments, private organizations and government agencies from 2017 to 2020.

COA said the vehicles, including 150 sedans and vans worth P3.4 billion donated by South Korea through the Korean International Cooperation Agency, were not in the PNP books, prompting it to call out the police force.

Alba said Azurin assured donors “that all donated items are accounted for, properly acknowledged, and judiciously entered in PNP books as PNP property and subject to government accounting and auditing procedures.”

He said Azurin has also ordered “an immediate review of the completeness, and accuracy of all necessary documents required by law for due recording in the PNP’s books covering other donations.”

“The Chief PNP made the assurance in response to reports of the Commission on Audit’s flagging of unrecorded donated vehicles in the PNP Book of Accounts,” said Alba.
