THERE were 203,079 job vacancies in government offices nationwide as of June 30, according to latest figures released by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on its official website.
Based on the breakdown per agency type, over half, or 53 percent, of the available jobs may be found in national government agencies (NGAs) equivalent to 110,398 positions.
On the other hand, local government units (LGUs) are looking to fill up 66,772 posts, equivalent to 32.88 percent of the national total vacancies.
In addition, the CSC data showed applicants may also try for 10,103 jobs available in government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs), 8,342 in local water districts, and 7,464 in state universities and colleges (SUCs).
The CSC report on the Inventory of Government Human Resource System did not specify the agencies that are hiring new workers but it provided a tally per region.
Metro Manila (National Capital Region), which has the greatest concentration of government offices, had 71,205 job openings as of June, of which 56,386 are in NGAs, 8,147 in GOCCs, 6,260 in LGUs, and 412 in SUCs.
Region 4 (Calabarzon and Mimaropa) had the second biggest number of vacancies with 20,374. Of this total, the bulk can be found in LGUs (10,688) and NGAs (6,802).
Region 3 (Central Luzon) is seeking to recruit 16,065 additional workforce, mostly for LGUs (8,032), local water districts (3,378), and NGAs (3,088).
The other regions with big manpower requirements are Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (14,713), Central Visayas or Region 7 (11,921), Bicol or Region 5 (11,094), Northern Mindanao or Region 10 (10,543), and Western Visayas or Region 6, with 9,243 vacancies.
