ABOUT 20 abandoned vehicles have been discovered in various parking lots of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), some of them parked there since 2014.
New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) is taking action to remove the vehicles to address potential safety hazards and free up limited parking space.
NNIC is offering owners a final chance to reclaim their cars before they are towed and impounded.
“These abandoned vehicles are taking up space that should be available for passengers. They are also a security and safety concern, especially in their deteriorating states. We are waiving any applicable fees to encourage owners to reclaim them.” NNIC said
NNIC is conducting further audits across all NAIA terminals and expects the number of abandoned vehicles to rise.
Owners must present proof of ownership and valid identification to reclaim their vehicles. After a grace period, unclaimed vehicles will be towed and impounded at government facilities. NNIC will coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure proper handling of the vehicles.
