TWO of the four suspects in the recent hazing death of a criminology student in Quezon City have executed extra-judicial confessions, a police official said yesterday.
Quezon City Police District Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said the two admitted they were part of the group that conducted the initiation rites that led to the death of Ahldryn Lery Chua Bravante, a fourth-year student at the Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR).
“Two of the four suspects in our custody executed extra-judicial confessions. They confessed involvement in the initiation rite(s),” said Maranan.
“They are cooperating with us (in the conduct of the investigation) and they gave us 10 more names of their companions during the initiation rite(s),” said Maranan.
Maranan declined to name the two who executed the extra-judicial confession last Tuesday, saying: “Their names are confidential as of now.”
The four suspects in police custody are Justine Cantillo Artates, Kyle Michael De Castro, Lexer Angelo Diala Manarpies and Mark Leo Domecillo Andales, members of the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity.
Artates and Castro were arrested by the police last Monday night at the Chinese General Hospital in Manila where they brought Bravante after the victim lost consciousness after the hazing.
Manarpies and Andales surrendered to the police last Tuesday.
Police said Bravante sustained hematoma on both of his legs and had cigarette burns on his chest and hands.
Maranan said the two suspects who executed the extra-judicial confessions were assisted by a counsel.
