OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested two alleged pushers who sold a kilo of suspected shabu, worth P6.8 million, in a buy-bust operation in Bacoor City in Cavite on Sunday night.

A report from the PDEA identified the two as Gregorio Piria Gregorio, 28, and Enrico Joco Pabiton , 49, residents of Barangay Concepcion in Naic, Cavite.

The suspects were nabbed by operatives of PDEA-CALABARZON, augmented by the local police, at around 8:10 p.m. on Daang Hari Road in Barangay Molino IV after they handed over the shabu to a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer.

Also seized from them were their Mitsubishi Adventure van, the buy-bust money and a cell phone.

Meanwhile, a former barangay captain who escaped from a Cebu jail a few months ago was killed by policemen in a manhunt operation in Barangay Minoyan in Murcia, Negros Occidental early morning yesterday.

Jennifer Mercader, 44, a former chairman of Barangay Lugo in Borbon, Cebu, is included in the Top 10 high-value individuals of the Central Visayas regional police office in its war on illegal drugs.

Mercader escaped on March 5 from the Medellin District Jail in Cebu where he was detained on charges of illegal possession of drugs and firearms.

Police said he has confessed to the killing of Lt. Col. Joie Yape, intelligence chief of the Cebu provincial police, in November last year in Cebu City.

Last month, police operatives tried to arrest Mercader in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Taculing in Bacolod City but he escaped.
