TWO motorcycle-riding men flagged down by the police manning a checkpoint in Pasay City because the passenger was not wearing a helmet were nabbed after two sachets of suspected shabu were found in the compartment of the vehicle on Saturday night.
Police identified the two as Jerome Chu, 22 and Wendell Torillos, 18. Their red motorcycle had no plate number.
Police officers asked Chu, the driver, for his driver’s license but he failed to present any.
When Chu opened the compartment of the motorcycle to show the official receipt and certificate of registration of the vehicle, police saw two sachets of shabu with an estimated value of P300.
They were brought to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of Pasay City Police Station and will be charged for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, P1.8 million of suspected kush or high grade marijuana with a street value of P1.6 million was intercepted by alert agents of the Bureau of Customs last Dec. 6 in Pasay City.
Coming from the USA, the parcel, declared as containing Marvel comics and child sleeping bag, was received at the Central Mail Exchange Center.
The parcel was consigned to a certain individual from Taguig city and was found to contain three vacuum sealed pouches of suspected ush weed. The suspect was apprehended while claiming the parcel.
NAIA District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan recognized the efforts of Customs NAIA in coordination with PDEA and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group for the success of their campaign against illegal drugs, which now brings the tally to 58 drug busts since 2018.
Seven men were arrested in buy-bust operations in Pasig City.
Col. Moises Villaceran, local police chief, identified the seven as Jover Dela Cruz, 38; Asnawi Palao, 25; Rodel Darla, 38; Reynaldo dela Cruz, 27; Frank Astrologo, 50; Meliton Arbrasto, 38; and his brother Rodrigo, 31.
