OPERATIVES of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) of the PNP rescued on Monday night two Chinese kidnap victims and arrested their two kidnappers in Pampanga.
The rescued victims were identified as Chenger Quiang and Zhoang Song Qin, while the arrested suspects were Zhu Li, a Chinese; and Julius Gangan Tumolva, a Filipino driver.
AKG spokesman Maj. Ronaldo Lumactod said operatives swooped down at around 6 p.m. on Monday at Room 3704 of the Fontana Leisure Park in Clark Field Pampanga and rescued the two victims.
Police officers arrested Tumolva at the scene and recovered from him a cal. 45 pistol, two magazines with live ammunition, two handcuffs, a knife and a holster.
A follow-up operation some 45 minutes later resulted in the arrest of Zhu at Room 3F of Tower 2 Xenia Hotel also in Pampanga. Zhu works at the Shidaiken Technology Corporation.
Seized from Zhu’s possession was a van reportedly used in the kidnapping.
Lumactod said the victims were abducted at the Fontana Leisure Park by the suspects a few days earlier shortly after they arrived from China.
He said the victims were recruited to work as computer technicians but were instead ordered to work as Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) dealers when they arrived in the country.
“These (victims) are computer wizards, they fix busted computers. The victims refused (to be POGO dealers) and that’s the time when they were held against their will and beaten up by the suspects,” Lumactod said.
Lumactod said the victims claimed that the suspects supposedly demanded the return of Chinese RMB 170,000 (about P1.2 million) that they allegedly spent for their “hiring.”
Initial report said one of the victims already paid the amount but the suspects continued to detain them.
Lumactod said two friends of the victims, Lou Liqiang and one Zhejiang, reported the kidnapping to the AKG on Monday morning.
