TWO suspected gun runners were killed in a firefight with operatives of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group in Pililia, Rizal early yesterday morning.
AKG spokesman Maj. Ronaldo Lumactod identified one of the slain suspects as Jake Pingal Anden, who is also said to be a member of a kidnap-for-ransom group. The identity of the second fatality has yet to be established.
Lumactod said AKG personnel arranged to buy a cal. 45 pistol for P30,000 from the duo at about 3:15 a.m. in Sitio Bugarinin, Barangay Halayhayin, through the assistance of an informant.
As Anden handed the pistol to a poseur buyer, his unidentified companion sensed they were dealing with policemen. They suspects opened fire at the policemen, who fired back.
Recovered at the scene were five cal. 45 pistols, five magazines, eight spent shells, a motorcycle believed to stolen, the buy-bust money, and 20 grams of suspected shabu worth P136,000.
Lumactod said the two are members of the Dela Cruz kidnap-for-ransom group, allegedly headed by one Ryan dela Cruz, alias Mokong.
Lumactod said the two are also involved in other crimes like gunrunning, robbery-holdup, gun-for-hire, and carnapping in Rizal. — With Christian Oineza
