TWO policemen were injured when their car fell into a ditch on the side of the road while they were chasing a community quarantine violator in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur on Wednesday.
They were identified as S/Sgt. Dennis Aligato and Corporal Rey Tumaroy, assigned with the Aurora town police station.
Aligato and Tumaroy were on mobile patrol in Barangay Romarate in Aurora town at around 12:45 p.m. when a motorcycle, driven by an unidentified man with no face mask and helmet, overtook them.
Zamboanga Peninsula regional police spokesman Capt. Edwin Duco said the cops chased the motorcycle to accost the driver for several violations.
Upon reaching the junction of Barangays Romarate and San Jose, Duco said Aligato, who was driving the car, avoided a stray calf crossing the road but lost control of the steering wheel.
Aligato incurred cut wounds on his forehead and complained of chest pain while Tumaroyo incurred bruises on the head and pain on his shoulders.
