TWO Caloocan City policemen and their civilian cohort were arrested on charges of robbery and carnapping in Quezon City last Monday afternoon.
The suspects were identified as Staff Sergeant Russel Ortega, 39, and Corporal Joel Taboga, 37; both assigned with the Sub-Station 6 of the Caloocan City police station; and Robin Caidic, 39, a resident of Novaliches, Quezon City.
They were nabbed by operatives of the Quezon City Police District in front of the barangay hall of Barangay Balon Bato at around 4:40 p.m.
Police said QCPD policemen led by Capt. Reynandy Tagle was at the barangay hall for a follow-up investigation on a shooting incident that occurred in Barangay Baesa, Quezon City on Monday morning.
They later saw a group of persons, who later turned out to be Ortega, Taboga and Caidic, chasing a male, who was later identified as Gerard Andrade
Tagle’s group accosted the individuals.
The group of Ortega claimed they were running after Andrade because he is involved in illegal drugs.
Tagle sought documents from Ortega’s group to support their operation against Andrade but they failed to present any and were arrested.
