OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency yesterday arrested two Chinese and their Filipino cohort in a buy-bust operation that led to the seizure of 20 kilos of suspected shabu worth P136 million in Quezon City.
PDEA chief Wilkins Villanueva identified the suspects as Yao Yuan, Piao Hong, and Israel Ambulo.
Villanueva said the three delivered the shabu to an undercover agent at a parking lot inside the Quezon Memorial Circle. On a pre-arranged signal, PDEA agents discreetly positioned in the area swooped down on the suspects, who did not resist arrest.
Recovered from them were 20 pieces of vacuum-sealed plastic yellow tea bags labeled “Guanyinwang” that each contained a kilo of shabu, the suspects’ Nissan Cefiro (ZAW-576), and four cellphones.
In Cebu, PDEA agents arrested Nandino Arriesgado, 42, after he handed some 500 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000 to a poseur-buyer in Rainbow Village, Barangay Kinagsang-an, Pardo district in Cebu City yesterday afternoon.
The PDEA said its men from Central Visayas regional office has been monitoring the illegal activities of Arriesgado for months now, leading to the buy-bust operation.
Four suspected pushers were nabbed and suspected shabu worth P523,640 was seized in buy-bust operations in Parañaque, Las Piñas and Marikina City on Tuesday night.
Nino Dano Gravoso, 27, was arrested in Barangay BF Homes in Paranaque City at about 9:45 p.m. Seized from him were 14 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P95,200.00.
Thirty minutes later, two more suspected pushers identified as Joseph Tismo Ventura, 39; and Froilan Balbas Ramirez, 39; were nabbed in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Pinas. Recovered from them were 30 grams of suspected illegal drugs worth P204,000.
A 28-year-old man was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Marikina City on Tuesday, with cops recovering P224,440 worth of suspected shabu.
Col. Restituto Arcangel, local police chief, identified the suspect as Melvin Go of Barangay Fortune. — Noel Talacay and Christian Oineza
