OPERATIVES of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) rescued two Chinese females and arrested two of their kidnappers in an operation in Pampanga last Saturday, police reported yesterday.
An AKG operative, Staff Sgt. Nelson Santiago, died during the firefight that marred the rescue. Another policeman, Chief Master Sgt. Eden Accad, was injured.
The kidnapping of the victims was reported to the AKG by Chinese police attache Zheng Zhue, who said they were seized last Saturday at 7232 Avenida Ayala in Makati City.
The kidnappers brought the victims to Angeles City, Pampanga and demanded P8 million ransom in Chinese currency.
At around 2 p.m. on Saturday, AKG operatives conducted a rescue operation along De Guzman St., Sitio Feliza in Angeles City, leading to a shootout.
The fighting resulted in the arrest of the two suspects, identified as Hu Kai and Ryu Don.
Seized from them were a cal. 45 pistol, a cal. 38 revolver, drug paraphernalia and jungle knives.
The victims were brought to the AKG headquarters at Camp Crame “for documentation and proper disposition.”
Santiago and Accad were injured in the firefight and brought to the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center. However, Accad was pronounced dead on arrival.
