THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) yesterday said operatives have arrested and barred from leaving the country two Chinese nationals wanted for criminal activities in China as they were about to board their flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

First to be intercepted was Zhang Xianfa, 36, who was caught by immigration operations last February 14 when he was about to depart for Guanzhou, China at the NAIA Terminal 3.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said immigration agents found out that Zhang was included in the bureau’s alien database with existing derogatory records. He is wanted by Chinese authorities for crimes he allegedly committed in their country.

Tansignco said Zhang is one of the Chinese nationals who were ordered by the BI Board of Commissioners in May 2023 for violating the “terms and conditions of their visa being fugitives from justice.”

“Their presence in the Philippines poses a risk to public interest,” Tansingco said.
