AN initial group of 1,000 household service workers (HSWs) are set to leave for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) next week to become the first batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to be deployed in the Middle East state since the lifting of the ban.
In a statement, recruitment consultant Emmanuel Geslani said the 1,000 HSWs have nearly completed the recruitment process.
“These first batch of HSWs had their new employment contracts verified by the three POLOs (Philippine Overseas Labor Office) in Saudi Arabia,” said Geslani, adding that their overseas employment certificates (OECs) are now being processed by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
As part of their preparations for deployment, Geslani said the HSWs are set to undergo orientation, particularly on the details on the new employment contracts approved by both the DMW and KSA’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Resources.
