AT least 192 families affected by flash floods caused by typhoons in Ifugao and the eruption of Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon are still staying in evacuation centers or with their friends, according to reports from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Data from the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) showed that as of July 24, 179 families or 602 persons were still staying in three evacuation centers in Juban, Sorsogon following the June 5 eruption of Mount Bulusan.
An initial 10,707 families or 44,669 persons from 30 barangays in Irosin and Juban, both in Sorsogon, had initially been affected by the eruption last June 5.
Bulusan is under Alert Level 1 as of July 23.
A total of P1.693 million worth of assistance has been provided to the affected families, with P529, 096.94 coming from the DSWD, P22,090.00 from local government units concerned, and P1.142 million from private partners and non-governmental organizations.
Meanwhile, at least 15 families are either still staying in evacuation centers or with relatives in Banaue, Ifugao since the monsoon rains that resulted in flash floods last July 7.
Data from the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said as of July 23, 13 families were staying in an evacuation center and three families were staying with relatives in Banaue.
An initial 1,100 families or 4,605 persons from 10 barangays in Banuae and Hunguan, Ifugao had been affected by the floods while 1,083 houses in the affected barangays had been damaged.
More than P3.17 million worth of assistance had been provided to those who were affected by the floods and landslides.
Of the amount, P1.95 million came from DSWD, P215,706 00 from local government units concerned, and P1 million from non-governmental organizations.
DSWD-DROMIC also reported that as of July 23, five families in Plaridel, Bulacan have been affected by continuous rain and floods that started last July 22. Five houses were also damaged.
A total of P16,984 worth of assistance had been provided by DSWD to the affected families.
