LESS than 2,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) yesterday but there were 33 more deaths, raising the number of fatalities to 7,147.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said that of the 1,761 new cases, Quezon City reported 85, Rizal 74, Caloocan City 73, Davao City 70, and Laguna 69.
In all, the total number of infections in the country rose to 376,935.
The case fatality rate in the country is now 1.90 percent, according to the DOH.
There were 740 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 329,848. This means that 87.5 percent of COVID-19 patients have been able to recover from the deadly virus.
The DOH thumbed down requests that results of COVID-19 tests be made available in a government website (Freedom of Information (FOI) portal (http://foi.gov.ph).
“This is to inform the public that test results may not be requested from and released through the FOI portal as this constitutes a violation of the Data Privacy Act,” the DOH said.
“Release and dissemination of the requested results is prohibited because it contains personal information of patients not for public consumption,” it added.
The DOH advised the public to contact the testing centers for the results of their laboratory tests.
“For follow-ups regarding the results of the swab tests, the testing center, which conducted the swabbing, would be the appropriate office to address this request,” it said.
