THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board yesterday said around 15,000 beneficiaries who have yet to receive their fuel subsidy from the government will get it within the week.
“The Landbank said there are only 15,000 remaining and they would receive their subsidy through their respective accounts within this week,” LTFRB Executive Director Maria Kristina Cassion told the Laging Handa public briefing.
She added that Landbank now has the debit authority covering 264,578 LTFRB-managed modes.
Cassion said the LTFRB also gave Landbank a “debit advice” to credit the subsidy of 68,000 tricycle drivers managed by local government units. She said the subsidy will be credited to Gcash accounts of the tricycle drivers or through over-the-counter transactions.
She also said the agency returned to the Department of Trade and Industry some 5,000 applications for fuel subsidy after they were rejected by Landbank for being invalid accounts. She added they are now coordinating the matter with the DTI.
Cassion said the LTFRB is ready to execute any policy on fuel subsidy by the next administration.
Divided into two equal tranches, the P5-billion fuel subsidy program aims to extend P6,500 cash grants to 377,000 beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries include LTFRB-supervised PUV drivers and operators, tricycle drivers and operators under the LGUs, and delivery riders under the supervision of the DTI.
