DAVAO City had 187 cases as the Department of Health reported 1,574 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases yesterday for a total of 441,399 infections and 18 more deaths.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said Rizal had 96 cases, Pampanga 80, Quezon City 69, and Pasig City 59.
The number of fatalities rose to 8,572 for a case fatality rate of 1.94 percent, the DOH said.
There were 80 more recoveries, meaning the number of survivors rose to 408,702. The DOH said this means 92.6 percent of COVID patients had recovered.
Less the deaths and recoveries, the DOH said there are 24,125 active cases, accounting for 5.5 percent of COVID cases in the country.
Of the active cases, 84.6 percent are mild cases, 6.4 percent are asymptomatic cases, 5.8 percent are critical cases, 2.9 percent are severe cases, and 0.32 percent are moderate cases.
Eighteen more overseas Filipinos were infected with the deadly virus while another succumbed, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The total number of overseas Filipinos sickened with the virus rose to 11,692, with 7,577 having recovered, counting the 12 new recoveries reported by the DFA.
The number of overseas Filipinos who died due to the virus now stands at 847.
The bulk of the cases and deaths — 7,544 and 553, respectively — were recorded in the Middle East and African regions.
The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) reported 166 confirmed COVID cases in its office and attached agencies. As of December 7, the PCOO said there were seven active cases, 156 recovered and three deaths.
The PCOO main office had the highest number of cases with 51 composed of 50 recovered, and one death; followed by the National Printing Office with 34 cases (1 active, 33 recovered); PTV-4 with 22 cases (3 active, 18 recovered, 1 death); and Radio Television Malacanang (RTVM) reported with 16 cases (2 active, 14 recovered).
The APO Printing reported 13 cases (12 recovered, 1 death) while the News and Information Bureau reported 12 cases (all recovered); followed by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) with nine cases (all recovered); the Bureau of Broadcast Services with six cases (1 active and 5 recovered); and Bureau of Communications Services with three cases (all recovered).
