ONE hundred fifty more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients died while 5,310 new cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday, raising the number of infections in the country to 1,193,976.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said four laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last May 24.
The death toll, which topped the grim mark of 20,000 last Tuesday, climbed to 20,169 for a case fatality rate of 1.69.
The latest number of infections was the highest after three successive days of less than 5,000 new cases. There were 3,083 new cases last Sunday, 4,972 on Monday, and 3,972 on Tuesday.
Active cases dipped to 46,037 from 48,201 last Tuesday, with 92.5 percent of them mild cases, 2.2 percent severe cases, 2.1 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.7 percent critical cases, and 1.5 percent moderate cases.
The active cases account for 3.9 percent of COVID-19 cases in the country.
The DOH also reported that 7,408 more patients have recovered, raising the number of survivors to 1,127,770. This means that 94.5 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
There was no update from the Department of Foreign Affairs on the number of overseas Filipinos who have contracted the deadly virus.
As of last Tuesday, the death toll involving overseas Filipinos stood at 1,168.
