THE bus carrying youth volunteers has started its Metro Manila leg as part of the “Bus Ni Isko” nationwide initiative, aimed at courting more young voters to switch to Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Isko Moreno Domagoso.
The first “Bus Ni Isko” rolled out from its jump-off point on Felix Huertas St. corner Blumentritt in Manila at 8 a.m. yesterday on its way to Barangay San Dionisio in Parañaque City and to the Muntinlupa Public Market.
The decision to begin the bus campaign in Manila is to symbolize the humble beginnings of Isko Moreno in the city of Manila — from being a waste scavenger to pedicab driver, actor and politician.
Carl Danielle Labro of the Isko Tayo Kabataan and Alliance of Isko Movement, said the target of this journey is to court the youth voters, which comprise a huge number of new voters.
Despite the rainy weather, the youth volunteers were very dynamic and empowered to share the platform and agenda of Isko to the public.
Labro said most activities during the bus visits in strategic areas include T-shirt printing, film showing, distribution of campaign materials and others that would entice the interest of the younger generation.
“The journey of the bus in this Bus Ni Isko initiative is like the life story of Isko Moreno, who had a humble beginning in the city of Manila. The bus will kick off in Manila and will travel to Visayas and Mindanao–like what Isko is doing now. He started in serving Manila, now he wants to serve the whole nation,” Labro said.
The group also highlighted the programs Moreno did in Manila, which delivered reforms and other services that helped Manileños overcome the problems of pandemic.
In education, many students got their own personal tablet, wifi load and other school materials needed during their stay-at-home schooling.
The group said Moreno’s capabilities are really shining during times of adversities like the pandemic, and this is what our country needs to help our countrymen recover from mounting problems brought about by COVID-19.
