AT least 5,000 displaced formal sector workers are set to receive a one-time P5,000 cash assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment under the agency’s COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).
In a televised public briefing, Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said more than 5,000 out of the 22,000 applicants have been approved as CAMP beneficiaries.
Tutay said another 12,000 applications are still being evaluated by DOLE field offices. The remaining 4,000 applications, she said, are undergoing further verification from DOLE.
She said applicants that will be denied doesn’t mean they are already ineligible.
“When one is denied, do not immediately give up because the denial may just be because of unclear requirements you submitted,” she said. “We advise you to make a submission again of your documents so that they could be reconsidered.”
The DOLE has reopened its CAMP for the workers displaced due to the imposition of Alert Levels 3 and 4 in different parts of the country.
The agency has allocated P1 billion for the benefit of workers who have been retrenched, permanently displaced, and temporarily displaced because of stricter community protocols.
