ONE hundred forty more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients died while 5,790 new cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday that raised the number of infections in the country to 1,143,963.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said six laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last May 14.
The death toll from the deadly virus rose to 19,191 for a case fatality rate of 1.68.
There were 54,904 active cases, of which 93.3 percent are mild cases, 2.1 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.9 percent severe cases, 1.4 percent critical cases, and 1.2 percent moderate cases.
The number of survivors rose to 1,069,868 after 7,541 more recovered.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it received no new reports from its 94 embassies and consulates worldwide of any overseas Filipinos who tested positive or died due to COVID-19.
As of May 15, the DFA said 18,607 Filipinos in 94 countries have been infected with the virus with 1,162 deaths, mostly in the Middle East and African regions, which tallied 758 fatalities followed by 243 in the Americas, 130 in Europe and 31 in the Asia Pacific region.
The DFA also listed 11,369 recoveries, leaving 6,076 still undergoing treatment. — With Ashzel Hachero
