THE Bureau of Immigration yesterday said 14 Nigerian nationals suspected of being involved in online scam and credit card fraud have been apprehended by immigration agents in Las Piñas City.

BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr.said “credible intelligence” linked the Nigerians to fraudulent schemes.

“Our intelligence division has been closely monitoring these individuals. They were reportedly involved in love scams, online scamming, and credit card fraud,” Manahan said.

Manahan said the initial target of the operation were Godswill Nnamdi Chukwu, 32, and Justin Chimezie Obi, 30.

However, he said operatives also found the 12 other Nigerians in the residence when they conducted the operation. The 12 later turned out to be overstaying foreigners.

He said all 14 foreign nationals will remain in the BI’s holding facility inside the Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.

Meanwhile, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco urged the public to report any suspicious activities of foreigners in their communities to help maintain peace and security.
