PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has signed 14 bills into law establishing Land Transportation Office (LTO) district and extension offices in different parts of the country to provide more efficient and effective services to the public.
The 14 bills that were signed into laws on April 27 included Republic Act (RA) 11737 that establishes the LTO district office in Alicia in Isabela; RA 11738 that establishes the LTO district office in Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon; and RA 11739 that establishes the LTO and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) office in Bacoor in Cavite.
The other laws are RA 11740 that establishes the LTO District Office in Balingasag in Misamis Oriental; RA 11741 that establishes the LTO District Office in Liloan in Cebu; and RA 11742 that converts the LTO Extension Office at Sigma in Capiz into an LTO District Office that will be relocated in Dumalag in Capiz.
Also signed into law were RA 11743 that establishes an LTO District Office in Alcoy in Cebu; RA 11744 that establishes the LTO District Office in Laoang in Northern Samar; RA 11745 that establishes the LTO District Office in San Jose in Dinagat Islands; and RA 11746 that establishes the LTO District Office in Cataingan in Masbate.
Also approved was RA 11747 that converts the LTO Extension Office in Mabacalat City into a regular LTO District Office; RA 11748 that establishes an LTO District Office in Ibajay, Aklan that will be known as the Western Aklan LTO Center; RA 11749 that establishes an LTO District Office in Enrique B. Magalon in Negros Occidental; and RA 11750 that establishes an LTO District Office in Pagsanjan in Laguna.
The laws direct the Secretary of Transportation to include in the Department of Transportation’s program the operationalization and initial funding for the district and extension offices of LTO while future budgets for the said offices shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
The Secretary of Transportation shall also promulgate the necessary implementing rules and regulations to ensure the effective implementation of the laws, which take effect 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette or a national daily.
