137 party-list groups sign up for 2025 polls

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday said 137 party-list organizations have expressed their intentions to seek congressional seats in the May 2025 midterm elections.

“The following sectoral parties, sectoral organizations, political parties, and coalition of political parties timely filed their respective Manifestation of Intent to Participate in the Party-List System of Representation Elections for the 2025 NLE,” the Comelec said in a statement.

The filing of the Manifestation of Intent to Participate in the party-list elections ended on December 29, 2023.

Under existing rules on party-list representation, only organized groups duly registered with the poll body and have filed their Manifestation of Intent to Participate may join the party-list elections.

Those which will join the 2025 race include the following: Ilocano Defenders Inc., Akay ni Solusyon Organisasyon at Laban, Partido sa Bagong Pilipino, FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-List, United Senior Citizens Koalition ng Pilipinas Inc., Kilos Mamamayan Ngayon Na, Magkakasama sa Sakahan Kaunlaran, Abono Partylist, Ako Padayon Pilipino Party-List, Association of Philippine Electric Cooperatives, Bangon Bagong Minero, Solo Parent Working for Economic Rights and other Thrusts for Equality, Solo Parents, Kababaihan Kabalikatan para sa Kapakanan at Kaunlaran ng Bayan, and Bagong Henerasyon Party-List.

These groups also submitted their manifestation: Coalition of Associations of Senior Citizens in the Philippines, Kaisipang Positibo para sa Kaunlaran ng Pilipino, Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc., Bayaning Tsuper Party-List, Peoples Champ Guardians Party-List (formerly – 1BRO-PGBI), Asenso Pinoy, Pinatatag na Ugnayan para sa mga Oportunidad sa Pabahay ng Masa, Ako Ilocano Ako, Passengers and Riders Organization Inc. Party-List, Bicol Saro, Agricultural Sector Alliance of the Philippines, Ang Pamilya Muna, Talino at Galing ng Pinoy, Samahan ng Manggagawa sa Industriya ng Live Events, Barangay Health Wellness, Ang Asosasyon Sang Mangungumanga Bisaya Owa Mangunugma, Inc., Agri-Agra na Reporma para sa Magsasaka ng Pilipinas, Act as One Philippines, Kasama regional political party, Sulong Dignidad regional political party, Anti-Crime and Terrorism – Community Involvement and Support Inc., Tulungan Tayo, Democratic Independent Workers Association, Walang Iwanan sa Free Internet Inc., An Waray, and Ako Bisaya.

The following organizations also want to take their chance: Abante Pangasinan – Ilokano Party, Gabriela women’s party, Bayan Muna, Aktibong Kaagapay ng mga Manggagawa, Towards Development and Action, Alliance for Resilience Sustainability and Empowerment, Magkakasama sa Sakahan Kaunlaran, Magkakasama sa Sakahan Kaunlaran, Manila Teachers Savings and Loan Association, Inc., United Frontliners of the Philippines, Ako Bicol political party,

Galing sa Puso Party-List, Ang Komadrona Inc., Magdalo para sa Pilipino, Bahay para sa Pamilyang Pilipino Inc., Tutok to Win, Philippine Educators Alliance for Community Empowerment, Duty to Energize the Republic through the Enlightenment of the Youth, PDP Cares Foundation Inc., Ang Buklod ng mga Motorista ng Pilipinas, Abang Lingkod Inc., Alliance of Organizations, Networks, and Associations of the Philippines; Marino Samahan ng mga Seaman Inc., Kusug Tausug, Pagtibayin at Palaguin ang Pangkabuhayang Pilipino, Buhay Hayaan Yumabong, ACT Teachers Party-List, Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption, Agimat ng Masa, Dumper Philippines Taxi Drivers Association, Inc., Joint Union of Active Nationalist Filipino, Trade Union Congress Party, Tagapagtaguyod ng mga Reporma at Adhikaing Babalikat at Hahango sa mga Oportunidad para sa mga Pilipino, and Aksyon Tungo sa Asenso at Pagsulong ng Pilipino.

The Pwersa ng Bayaning Atleta, Public Safety Alliance for Transformation and Rule of Law Inc., Alsa Bisaya, Abante Anak Bisaya, Knowledge Computer Literacy Innovation Connectivity, Probinsyano Ako, Ang Programang Aasenso Taumbayan – Dream, Act, Participate, Advocate for Sustainable Transformation; Advocacy for Teacher Empowerment through Action Cooperation and Harmony Towards Educational Reform, Bangon Philippine Outsourcing Party-List, Mothers for Change, Lungsod Aasenso, Akbayan Citizens’ Action Party, People’s Volunteer Against Illegal Drugs, Alyansa ng mga Mamamayang Probinsiyano, Partido Cocoman regional political party, Movement of Active Apostolic Guardians Association of the Philippines, Malasakit at Bayanihan Foundation, Inc., Kabataan Party-List, Alternatiba ng Masa, Bunyog Pagkakaisa, and Serbisyo sa Bayan Party will also join the party-list race.

Comelec records show that 177 party-list organizations participated in the 2022 elections.
