136 more deaths; toll now 19,507

ONE hundred thirty-six more patients lost their battle against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while 4,700 new cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday as the number of infections in the country rose to 1,159,071.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said seven laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last May 17.

The death toll rose to 19,507 for a case fatality rate of 1.68.

Active cases dipped to 49,951 from 52,291 last Tuesday, with 92.8 percent mild cases, 2.2 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.1 percent severe cases, 1.5 percent critical cases, and 1.3 percent moderate cases.

There were 6,986 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,089,613. The DOH said this means that 94 percent of COVID patients had recovered.

The number of overseas Filipinos who recovered from the deadly virus rose to 11,392 after 17 more recoveries were reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

There were four new overseas cases while there was no new report of fatality among overseas Filipinos.

The total number of infections among Filipinos based abroad rose to 18,633 while the death toll stood at 1,163. — With Ashzel Hachero
