THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) yesterday said more than 11,000 low income families in Luzon who were waitlisted during the April pay out of the emergency cash assistance under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) have already received their share of the subsidy.

Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista said P64.3 million had been released to 11,383 families, who were wailtlisted or leftout in the first tranche, from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region (Region I) and Central Luzon (Region 3).

He said this is in addition to the 1.3 million Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) cashcard holders who already received the second tranche of the SAP in June.

Bautista said a total of P6.80 billion had already been released under the second tranche of the SAP payout.

The DSWD hopes to start the digital payout of the May tranche by Friday through financial service providers GCash, RCBC, Robinsons Bank, PayMaya, Starpay, and Unionbank.

Starpay Corporation president Lamberto Scarella said the use of financial services providers would not just help advance the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ push for “true financial inclusion for all but will also be a safe, secure, and convenient way for the DSWD to distribute to the beneficiaries.”
