ELEVEN Chinese who overstayed their welcome in the country have been ordered to leave, placed on the immigration’s blacklist, and barred from returning.

“These aliens are now barred from re-entering the Philippines for violating the conditions of their stay. They were allowed to come here by availing a visa upon arrival or the VUA policy yet they abused that privilege by overstaying without valid reason at all,” Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said.

Under the VUA, foreigners are not allowed to extend their stay beyond 30 days.

BI records showed the 11 arrived in the country in November and December last year and in January, meaning they overstayed for as much as 10 months.

Morente said the 11 Chinese showed up at the BI main office in Manila last week to update their stay and presented plane tickets manifesting their intention to leave the country when immigration personnel noted the violations.
