ONE hundred seven more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients died while 6,385 more new cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday as total infections in the country rose to 1,124,724.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said all its accredited laboratories submitted data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last May 11.
The death toll from the deadly virus rose to 18,821, just 179 short of the grim milestone of 19,000, for a case fatality rate of 1.67.
Active cases rose to 55,260 from 53,214 last Wednesday, with 93.3 percent of them mild cases, 2.2 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.9 percent severe cases, 1.4 percent critical cases, and 1.1 percent moderate cases.
The number of survivors climbed to 1,050,643 after 4,289 more recovered from their battle with the deadly virus.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it did not receive any report from its 94 embassies and consulates worldwide on new COVID-19 cases or death among overseas Filipinos.
As of May 12, the DFA said 18,571 overseas Filipinos have been infected with the deadly virus, with 11,366 having recovered.
The death toll stood at 1,162, with 758 recorded in the Middle East and African regions, 243 in the Americas, 130 in Europe and 31 in the Asia Pacific region. — With Ashzel Hachero
