FOR the third time in four days, over 100 deaths from the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported by the Department of Health yesterday while 4,509 more new cases raised the number of infections in the country to 1,412,559.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the new cases do not include results from six laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last June 28.
The DOH also said that 105 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus, raising the death toll to 24,662 for a case fatality rate of 1.75. There were 128 deaths reported last Sunday, 84 last Monday, and 101 last Wednesday.
Active cases dipped to 48,649 from 50,037 last Tuesday, with 90.6 percent mild cases, 4.1 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.2 percent severe cases, 1.6 percent moderate cases, and 1.5 percent critical cases.
The DOH reported 5,839 new recoveries as the total number of survivors climbed to 1,339,248. The agency said this means that 94.8 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it did not receive any reports from its 94 embassies and consulates worldwide of new COVID-19 cases and fatalities among overseas Filipinos.
The total number of COVID cases and deaths among overseas Filipinos remained at 20,773 and 1,229, respectively, and recoveries at 12,261.
Majority of the cases and deaths occurred in the Middle East and African regions with 11,759 and 822, respectively. — With Ashzel Hachero
