1,036 areas under granular lockdown

AT least 1,036 areas throughout the country remained under granular lockdown as of Saturday, the PNP said yesterday.

Most of them were in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with 404 areas under granular lockdown, followed by Ilocos region with 252, Calabarzon with 173, and Cagayan Valley with 152.

Twenty-nine areas in Mimaropa were also under granular lockdown, the National Capital Region (NCR) had 14, and Zamboanga Peninsula had 12.

The 1,036 areas under granular lockdown are located in 399 barangays within 33 cities and municipalities, manned by some 596 policemen and 930 force multipliers or personnel from barangays, cities, and municipalities.

A total of 1,320 households, composed of 2,512 individuals, are affected by the lockdown.

There were 853 areas under granular lockdown as of last Thursday — 338 in CAR, 316 in Ilocos region, 137 in Cagayan Valley, 29 in Mimaropa, 17 in NCR, and 16 in Zamboanga Peninsula.

The PNP also reported that 26,206 individuals were accosted on Saturday for quarantine violations, with 4,278 of the violators coming from Metro Manila.

This brought to 698,421 the number of violators accosted throughout the country from January 3 to 29. There were 123,624 violators accosted in NCR during the same period.

Of the total violators, 610,601 were accosted for violation of minimum public health standards, 73,107 for curfew violation and 14,713 non-authorized persons outside residence.

The PNP said 592,094 of the violators were warned, 60,819 were fined, and 45,508 were brought to the police stations to be charged.
