A HUNDRED distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait are expected to return home to the Philippines today, Friday, as part of the repatriation efforts of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
In an advisory, the OWWA said 100 OFWs from Kuwait are set to arrive early today at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
“OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio is returning to the Philippines from Kuwait tomorrow, Friday, 20 January 2023 at 6:20 am,” said the OWWA. “He is accompanying an estimated 100 repatriated OFWs in the same flight.” OWWA said Ignacio and the OFWs will arrive on board flight EK 0336 at the NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City.
Earlier this week, 40 distressed OFWs from Kuwait arrived in the Philippines as part of the government’s repatriation efforts.
They are part of the 421 distressed OFWs that the OWWA and the DMW are looking to bring home by the end of the month.
The DMW and OWWA are shouldering the expenses for the mass repatriation efforts.
