THE Muntinlupa City police nabbed 10 men posing as agents of the National Bureau of Investigation who demanded P40 million in ransom from the family of a Chinese businessman held captive in his residence in Ayala Alabang Village last November 11.
Southern Police District Director Brig. General Kirby John Kraft identified the suspects based on the report of the Muntinlupa police as David Liao, 46; Fritz Cafino, 33; Ronaldo Zuniega, 33; Andy Sy, 50; Erlindo Auditor, 48; Roderick Ensano, 48; Bienvinido Vildad Jr., 47; Ernesto Baay, 45; Roberto Pacis, 65; and Jonathan Salud, 46.
Kraft said five more suspects remain at large, including 50-year-old Jose Congreso.
Investigation showed the suspects, onboard a Ford Expedition sport utility vehicle, entered the posh subdivision and informed the security guards they were there to visit friends on Maria Cristina St.
Once inside the village, the suspects proceeded instead to the residence of a 33-year-old Chinese businessman and forcibly opened the gate after introducing themselves as NBI agents.
The suspects held the victim captive and demanded P40 million from his family in exchange for his liberty.
“Fortunately, the victim’s personal driver was able to call the village security guards and asked for help,” Kraft said, adding the security guards coordinated with the police, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
