AN estimated 1.7 million Filipinos are expected to cast their votes in foreign lands beginning next month, data released by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday showed.
The poll body said 1,697,215 overseas voters have registered to participate in the May 9 presidential elections.
The number is composed of 1,677,631 land-based voters and 19,584 sea-based voters.
Nearly half of the overseas voters are based in the Middle East and Africas region with 786,997 voters, followed by the 450,282 voters in the Asia Pacific region.
There are also 306,445 voters in the North and Latin America region, while the European region has 153,491 registered voters.
Data also showed that a large majority, or 1,072,159 voters are females, while 625,056 voters are males.
Overseas voting is set to run from April 10, 2022 to May 9, 2022. Voters are set to vote for president, vice-president, senators, and party-list representatives.
