Wine Story Academy, an approved programme provider of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) that is widely considered as the gold standard in wine education, will be uncorking high quality wines with pleasing character from Sept. 11-14, 2019 at Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. It is among the event highlights as it joins the global celebration of `Wine Education Week’ spearheaded by WSET.
From introductory “vine to wine” tasting stations to food and wine pairing sessions, plus a whole lot more, the events will help consumers make wiser choices when choosing a bottle, and enable the wine trade to benefit overall. Participants will also meet fellow wine lovers while learning.
WSET launched the first ever global “Wine Education Week” in 45 countries. It is the largest global provider of wine qualifications. The WSET initiative is part ofits 50th anniversary activities.
Wine Story Academy, the Philippines’ first Approved Programme Provider of WSET qualifications, invites the public to learn more about the delicious beverage in observance of Wine Education Week in the metro. The series of wine eventswill deepen your knowledge on grape varieties, food-and-wine pairings, label terminologies, and a lot of other wine-related matters, in a refreshing manner.
Two of the events will unfold at Planet Grapes, a hip gathering place and upscale wine shop-cum-restaurant catering to the new generation of wine lovers in the Philippines. Italian, German, Portuguese and Spanish wines will be featured on September 11, 7 pm to 9 pm PST, during the event dubbed “Old World Wines: A Taste of Tradition.” A ticket costs PhP 1,000.
On September 12, Planet Grapes will present “New World Classics” featuring scintillating wine selections from Argentina, Australia, California, Chile, New Zealand and South Africa. Embark on a guided tasting tour at 7 pm to 9 pm and get tickets at PhP1,000 per person.
Another venue for the special events marking Wine Education Week is Wine Story, Manila’s premier retailer of fine and rare wines. Wine Story continually seeks to raise of bar of wine experience from learning, drinking to buying, storing, collecting, and investing.
At Wine Story in Shangri-La Mall on September 13, the “Tour de France” featuring walk-around tastings will unfold from 7 pm to 9 pm. It features a wine flight from the famous French wine regions of Bordeaux, Champagne, Burgundy, Alsace and the Rhone Valley. The highlight of the week’s festivities slated on September 14 is a day-long event called “WinEd:
Wine Appreciation through Education.” A mini museum highlighting the story of Wine Story Academy will include notable achievements of alumni and a wine guide. Back-to-back wine classes will commence hourly from 11 am until 6 pm. There will also be interactive wine games and activities well-suited for budding as well as seasoned wine enthusiasts. These activities will be followed by a lively wine career chat” at 7 pm about wine-related careers with a panel of accomplished professionals who are passionate about wine, and represent various fields such as culinary, sommelierie, media, education and retail.
