MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Sun Life Philippines, Liter of Light, and the National Museum of the Philippines have set a new Guinness World Record for the largest display of solar-powered lamps, with 2,743 hand-built units arranged in a sun formation at the National Museum of Natural History.
The installation, part of Sun Life’s Circle of Light program marking the company’s 130th anniversary, surpassed India’s previous record of 2,203 lamps set in January. The display mirrors the sun design on the Philippine flag, symbolizing unity and hope.
“This achievement is a shining example of what we can accomplish when purpose-driven organizations and passionate individuals come together,” said Benedict Sison, CEO and Country Head of Sun Life Philippines.

Sun Life employees, advisors, volunteers, and community members assembled the lamps during workshops led by Liter of Light, an international non-profit specializing in solar lighting solutions. Local pottery collective Odangputik Art Space hand-shaped each lamp.
The display runs from July 2-9, 2025, at the National Museum of Natural History. Following the exhibition, Sun Life will donate the solar lamps to off-grid communities in Talim Island and Region IV-A, providing them with clean energy.
The initiative aligns with Sun Life’s broader sustainability and community development strategy.
