THE Women’s Business Council Philippines (WomenBizPH) hosted a conference titled “The Future of Handmade in a Digital World” on September 1, 2023, at the Podium Hall. The conference brought together advocates of culture, artisans, government officials, civil society, and private organizations to discuss the challenges of marketing and distributing traditional handicrafts in the digital age.

The conference was timely as handmade and do-it-yourself products are becoming increasingly popular in the digital era. It sought to address the difficulties of marketing and distributing handmade goods in a world where technology dominates and to explore ways in which handmade items can complement digital platforms.

The discussions also focused on how social media can aid micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in reaching a broader audience. The conference featured keynote speeches and panel discussions that will cover a range of topics, including how traditional art can adapt to the digital future, the benefits of collaborating across different practices, and success stories of different communities and how they adapted to changes in grassroots.

One of the event’s supporters was Airspeed, a well-known end-to-end logistics company in the Philippines that supports women’s empowerment and helps MSMEs grow.

Airspeed Group of Companies Chairwoman and President Rosemarie Rafael said supporting organizations like WomenBizPH can promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

The conference offered an excellent opportunity to network with like-minded businesses, learn new skills, and gain insights from experts on using the digital environment while preserving the unique originality and craftsmanship of handmade goods.

Attendees left the conference with a better understanding of how to navigate the challenges of marketing and distributing handmade goods in a digital world.
